[9:24] JB: “Even in a world that gets on track for net zero by 2050. Net zero doesn't mean zero. The International Energy Agency did this big landmark report on what net zero looks like by 2050. And in that world, if we get there, we're using 25% as much oil as today and about half as much natural gas as we are today. That's much less but it's not zero. So it has to come from somewhere. And I suspect the places it'll come from are the ones that can produce the oil most cheaply and most cleanly. And Gulf Arab producers like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, they look pretty good on both of those accounts. […] If you are wondering who the last man standing might be, […] it might be countries like that.”

[17:38] “Currently, there are only two companies globally that can build the equipment necessary for making near zero emission steel plants. We need 15 of these companies, or they need to grow 15 times in size at the very least. So […] we've got 10 years to master the technologies, 10 years to build up the supply chain, train enough engineers and construction workers, build the factories necessary to pump these things out as they're as they're needed as stuff wears out and that applies across heavy industry.”

[7:02] “What we basically figured out is that almost every building in New York City and pretty much the whole country is running on control technology that really hasn't changed since the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s. […] What we did pretty much over the last 5 or 6 years is we built a very much more advanced, but much simpler, cheaper and easier to install computer that goes into buildings and we built a wireless sensor network that talks to that computer. And then we use software to run those buildings more efficiently. And it sounds great dead simple, incredibly hard to actually do to make it work in every building every time to run the heating, the cooling, the water, everything much more efficiently. But the end result is we can on average, last year, on heating alone, we cut the energy spend by about 21%. […] On the average building, that means we're taking the equivalent of 8 cars of carbon output off the road. […] Next year, we're going to take something like 100,000 cars of carbon output off the road simply by running buildings more efficiently.”

[2:11] KT: “We see anywhere between 32% of the current charging stations can be offline at any given time and that 80% of the issues that they experience are non-electrical. And so what we do is we go on site, we utilize our app in order to troubleshoot the charging stations that are currently being deployed across the United States.”

[15:21] “The amount of electrolysis the world needs is an absolutely huge number. The world needs 3,500 gigawatts of electrolysis in the next 29 years. That's to get to net zero by 2050. We're in the world's largest electrolyzer factory with a capacity of one gigawatt per annum. I'd have to run that factory for 35 centuries to make the amount of electrolysis. We're going to need more factories.”

[13:46] JG: “You can have companies up to 10% of their EBITDA compromised because of water risk. The way companies have been dealing mostly with these kinds of issues is in a reactive manner. […] And there's a lot of studies that says that the cost of inaction is up to five times higher than the cost of proactively being prepared for that. So the whole basis and they already have Waterplan is how can we help companies internalize the externality of water risk? How can we help them quantify that risk?”

[59:22] “We need to really […] get a value on water and we need to place a laser price on it. We need to as a species understand and we need to understand the value and the importance of water. It just is a completely unsustainable model that we have when it comes to water. And we need much more equality […], this is not limited to particular jurisdictions. You would think that one of the most developed countries in the world doesn't have water poverty, it does. […] People will go out and spend however much they do on bottled water […], but will argue against paying their municipal bill.”

[3:30] HF: “The natural boles are as strong as steel, in fact, stronger than some types of steel, they bend a little bit more flexibly than steel or concrete for example, and it's a natural product. So by cutting a bamboo pole, you're not generating any CO2, and therefore constructing anything from bamboo boles is really totally the opposite from constructing with let's say concrete, steel and glass. This is done in many parts of Asia and Latin America and a little bit in Africa where there is bamboo as well, but they don't have the big varieties that are really suitable.”

[5:19] “The plastic in the ocean has been studied since the early 70s. But none of the scientists were actually talking about it or getting it out to the general public that we had a serious problem in our hands. And it wasn't until […] research in the North Pacific [that] quantified plastics outweighing plankton, six to one.”

[13:23] PF: “The [UN] Decade of Family Farming has particular relevance in the Asia region. Indeed, Asia and the Pacific has the largest number of family farms in the world. It is home to 74% of world family farmers, with China and India alone representing nearly 60% of the estimated 600 million farms worldwide. […] So overall, in the region, many policies have been already developed to support family farming over the years, but there is still a need for more coherent public policies and legislation to support family farming. In particular, it is needed to increase public investment in agriculture, and national agricultural policies that are more sensitive to the realities that family farmers face, that can improve farmers access to agricultural input, financial services, technology and other necessary resources, but also that ensure secure access to natural resources especially land water and forestry.”
